Beautiful Inside Out with Kéla of Kéla Kloset - "Be the BEST You that YOU Can Be"

For another installment of Beautiful Inside Out, we connected with Kéla Walker, Blogger, TV Host/Producer, and Blogger of Kéla's Kloset.

Inspiration to start a Beauty, Fashion and Style Blog

I was inspired to write a blog for a couple of reason. I wanted to blog for a while and  finally decided to go for it at the beginning of 2012.

I was inspired to start my blog for a couple of reasons but mainly because fashion is an integral part of my profession. I'm a TV Host and image is a large part of my job. Most people think I have a stylist or a wardrobe budget but I don't so I figured why not share the fashion and style of my own “kloset” which I’ve produced on a budget over the years.

How would you like your blog to impact the lives of women?

Fashion isn't hard for me but for some it can be overwhelming and intimidating. What I look to do with my blog is make it easier for women by taking the guess work out of it.

Also, I want to help women be smart about their wardrobe choices and how they shop. Women wear less than 20% of their wardrobe.  We get so caught up in purchasing the newest and latest thing that we lose track of what we have. That's why I encourage women to optimize their kloset and shop there before shopping anywhere else. It's quite possible that the thing you are on your way to buy already exists in your kloset. When you assess your kloset and shop with purpose you build a quality kloset that will transcend trends and last for years to come.

That’s how it is in Kéla's Kloset.

What is beauty to you?

Beauty to me is confidence; owning who you are and what you believe.

How important is looking and staying beautiful both inside and out to you?

It's pretty important to be beautiful both inside and out.  I can put on a pretty dress and lipstick anytime, but if I don’t emotionally and physically feel good or believe in what I'm conveying, none of that matters.  It's a package deal; true beauty doesn't exist without the coexistence of both inner and outer beauty.

You exude so much confidence through your blog. What keeps you motivated?

I'm a girlie girl, and I love getting dressed for the moment and living life to the fullest. I'm not saving lives with Kéla's Kloset. It’s fashion, it's fun and I want to convey how much I enjoy it on my site. Not to mention, I’m super happy and flattered that anyone even takes the time to log on to my site, so that's also pretty motivating.

How much of an impact does your career have on your clothing selection for the day?

I'm a TV Host and Producer so my career has a great impact on what I wear.  When I'm on-air, I like to wear color because it pops and evokes positivity. I cover a lot of entertainment, fashion and lifestyle content so my clothing needs to be reflective of that.

I'm constantly thinking about my schedule of events and how my outfit can complement that. I'm not going to wear a cocktail dress to an R&B concert and I'm not going to wear jeans for an interview with a fashion designer.

I always try to make sure I'm appropriately dressed for the event that I'm going to attend and/or cover.

Any piece of advice for ladies, who lack confidence?

Be the best you that you can be.

I recently interviewed Tyra Banks who said the best thing ever "Perfect is boring and Flaws are Awesome" making everyone "FLAWSOME" because we all have flaws, right? How great is that? I love it and that's what I would tell others.

It’s okay to be inspired by others but ultimately BE YOU, it’s who you do best and what makes you awesome.
