Letter from the Founder: A Renewed Vision - Community for Ambitious Women

written by Carey-Lee Dixon, Letter from the Founder

Five years ago, I took a step back from a dream. It felt like I was facing this looming cloud of "what's next?" in adulthood, and grappling with that also the perceived shortcomings in my own life. The idea I had nurtured started growing into something more profound and significant than just me. Yet, amidst the uncertainties of how to nurture this brand and simultaneously build myself up during a challenging period, I made the choice to step away, temporarily, to rediscover myself and recharge.

The Spark: An Idea Transformed

When I conceptualised For Women to Women (FWTW), I was an intern fresh out of university, sharing a small office space and desk with a coworker in March 2012.

All I had was a spark of an idea and a vision. But I made it happen through sheer determination, starting from scratch, learning from mistakes, overcoming personal barriers, and pushing myself far beyond my comfort zone, even when that path felt unnerving.

FWTW wasn’t a big idea that I dreamt up. Like I would tell others, it was started on an impulse, and over the years, I have come to realise it was created for a purpose.

That tiny idea blossomed into a Facebook page, then a blog, paving the way for events and a thriving community. And through it all, YOU—believers in the brand and its vision—stood by me, helping to build it from the ground up.

From those who contributed to the blog, supported the brand as sponsors, and shared wisdom as speakers or personal advisors to those who attended events or read our content, you've been there every step of the way. It wouldn't feel right to embark on this new chapter of FWTW without inviting you along.

So here's the big news: FWTW is back!

We’re Not Done Yet!

It's been five years of staying quiet outwardly, but internally, there’s been a loud momentum of reassessments, redefining, and retooling this incubator brand for an intentional purpose. The urge to relaunch never faded. Even during moments when FWTW slipped my mind, someone would unexpectedly mention it, recount their FWTW experience, or express a longing to be part of it. I have seen your messages and emails and chatted with quite a number of you who have asked, “When is FWTW coming back?” or simply enquired if I have quietly closed the chapter. Resoundingly, I am happy to share that it was your messages, emails, questions and prompts that gently reminded me that the work of FWTW isn’t done just yet.

The Impact

Through FWTW, many of you have shared stories of forming deep connections and friendships within this community—finding mentors, advisors, and allies. Witnessing these journeys has been nothing short of incredible and a sure testament to the power and impact that we can have together as a collective of women.

In that vein, I'm thrilled to announce the revival of FWTW in 2024 and extend a personal invitation to you to join this re-energised journey and relaunch of the brand.

Certain things remain constant. We still crave conversations, community, accountability, and deep faith. Despite our individual growth and unique paths, FWTW aims to be that space where you can wholeheartedly embrace these elements and more.
